This term has always puzzled me. I understand that 90% of published studies in the world of psychopharmacology are funded by pharmaceutical companies. Having been involved in some of these studies, the ultimate goal is to get FDA approval - clinical truth is only a byproduct. If the field referred the concept as marketing material based medicine, most would argue that clinical experience is more important.
The above is self serving to some extent given my 20 years of clinical practice. I suppose 20 years ago, I would have said that evidenced based practice is more important.
